Friendship is a feeling of comfort and emotional safety with another person. It is when you do not have to weigh your thoughts and measure your words before speaking your mind. This is one relationship that has been nurtured since time immemorial, and it is said that a person who has found a faithful friend has found a priceless treasure. However, any relationship needs constant nurturing and development from all parties involved. Friendship cannot survive if one person makes all the effort to sustain it without any mutual recognition from others.

The concept of friendship begins in the heart, mind and soul of the youngest of children. With the innocence of the young mind, there is no prejudice, bigotry or malice toward others. Those are traits that are learned later, as the child’s mind and personality begin to mature, when he or she is capable of thinking and learning. Wrong peers, too much television, or lack of proper socialization, can lead to severe psychological traumas and disorders, finally leading to social maladjustment. It is essential that everyone, child through adult, find friends who are compatible on an emotional and psychological level.

In current times we receive, through MSM and government propaganda, a barrage of bigoted and hateful information regarding overseas nations and their peoples. We are constantly and consistently told to be wary of anyone who is a non-white non-Christian because “they hate us for our freedoms.” It was recently discovered that this is simply not true, so Building Bridges was created.

The sole purpose of Building Bridges is to bring nations and cultures together in friendship, to spread peace, and finally put an end to the many ongoing illegal wars around the world. It is only through education that people will open their eyes, their minds, and ultimately their hearts to the possibility of embracing someone who is different from ones self. We need to revel in the similarities rather than fearing the differences. The answer to the “meaning” of friendship lies within our hearts because true friendship can only be felt, and not expressed.
