The real reason was to get rid of the high flyers like Christopher Skase and Alan Bond. The banks like Westpac that stole their empire by pulling the rug out from under them by calling in their loans. Everyone blamed Alan Bond for their demise, but it was Keating's recession Australia had to have was the real reason for the collapse of Bond Corporation.
