Lots of good folks know there’s something wrong just by instinct.  The problem is identifying what it is. I set out to find it nearly 20 years ago.  I consolidated finances, sold some vehicles, equipment, and real estate, and spent over two years in near-isolation.  I combed through 8 state capitol libraries, talked/met with academics, trolled the country’s biggest used book stores, and virtually lived at the Library of Congress for weeks searching through dusty boxes and the congressional record. 

The 14th – 17th Amendments are the works of socialists. They worked at scamming the people and other well-intended public servants, and sold the country down the river through deceit and treachery. 

Their social vision for America was a cover-up; they used it like the dangling carrot to lead the people into institutional corrals.  

And now, all we can envision are band-aids in our vain attempt to keep the ship from sinking.  We were, and still are, bamboozled. 

Some of you know the horrible affects that the Civil Rights Acts have had on the Black community- you know the devastation that entitlements have had on the human soul.

But if you step back for a moment and look carefully at what has happened to us –all of us as a whole– since 1913, you will begin to see the very same negative effects are lurking in all of us- we all suffer from the very same ailment that ensnared and made codependents of Black America. 

The cause was the softening of republicanism; the desire to be independent and strong willed has been sapped from our bones.  Today, we argue over the difference between “rights” and “privileges,” when even the dirt farmers of the 1760’s had a clear understanding.  

We have forgotten there’s a Higher Law deeply embedded in our beginnings- a Law that sought only to administer blind justice, but was also held at bay by specific enumeration limiting federal authority.

There was a time when state power was the power of the people, and Uncle Sam trembled from fear of the state.  But today, the world is upside down; the state trembles when Big Brother comes knocking, and the people have little protection from legalized plunder.  

Half of us think plunder is okay; the other half doesn’t know it’s wrong. The effects of the 17th Amendment have snookered us into its grasp, like a penny stuck in a spiral wishing well.

The family unit has been ripped to shreds- brothers set against brothers, daughters taught to defy their mothers. 

The goodness of yesteryear has been buried by the mistakes of our past. Shame became a handkerchief over our mouths and political correctness ensured our compliance.

Just like the Civil Rights Acts ensnared an entire race, so it is with the 17th Amendment to the entire nation.

I am giving you –right here—the root cause of virtually all that ails America’s political system, corrupting our individual souls, and giving rise to a socialist mindset that empowers the rebuilding of the monarchy in Washington DC. 

If you don’t see it (and I hope you’re not so naïve that this little writing opened your eyes), I hope I have at least captured your attention just enough to take your curiosity to the next step in seeking the answer to what ails America.

The 17th Amendment is America’s Civil Rights Act.
