How Can We Cut Down On Spam?
I sent out a e mail about the event with the 2 spammers last night. The first one came & I took 4 hours cleaning up their mess, didn't even finnish & then the second one hit the site!
Ning has offered site owners a way to set up yearly membership fees. I was not even intrested in this because I know most peope do not want to pay to be on a site BUT I have not even been to bed yet.
I do not want to loose members on the site but how can we stop the spam? This site is costing $500.00 a year & everyones $5.00 could go to help pay for the site.
I have had a few people inbox me saying they are on disablity or others say they are broke but this is a post where everyone can have their input to help make this a cleaner site to come to.
We could give everyone time to get ready to do this IF we do this. It would end up being less than .50 cents a month. Maybe we could help out the ones who really can't do this we could wait a month or two to start so everyone is ready.
I just do not think a spammer will pay $5.00 to spam a site. I have a Donate Tab on the Tool Bar if anyone wishes to use it, it goes to my paypal account.
I enjoy the site & now that I am not working due to medical reasons I can spend more time here.

I like to make a few comments.
I had a lot of trouble on myspace with fake accounts some were quite good with the give-away link to see her porn use this link not at the top so you be friend her? before you realise it's fake. There were lot of fake accounts with the same info but different names and photo on them. Of course they sent friend request. then there would be the usal "i want to get to know you so email me" comments.
Some times you have to change your password 3 times a week because of these hackers.
But sometimes the hackers have got me and I see comments that I haven't posted supposedly from me, sometime selling dodgy apps.
But one of the points I want to make is, sometime the person sending spam doesn't know anything about it. They just a victim of a hacker, so it's not nice to send them hate mail.
I had hate mail when someone hacked my AOL account ( I was green to the internet then and use a bad password) AOL suspended my account because the hacker sent 140 spam emails out selling porn.
Anyway getting back to myspace, I changed the setting so people needed to use a captcha to post things to me, that stopped a lot of spam.
I know they are a pain but it got rid of a lot of spam.

I do not have it set to approve Salty but they do have to verifiy their address to join the site. I have sUSPENDED FOR SPAM AS WELL but THEIR junk is still on the site when I suspend for spam~ I deleted 2 last night or this morning I should say to see if it would go away & it did not as I can see. This has been 2 nights in a row & at about 4:30am-5:30am
