A confessed serial killer who carefully plotted his murders across the country told investigators that he got "high" from killing, FBI officials say.

Footage shows Israel Keyes sipping coffee and enjoying a bagel as he discusses his strategy for letting victims come to him.

"He liked what he was doing," FBI Special Agent Jolene Goeden told "Good Morning America. "He talked about the rush he got out of it, the adrenaline and kind of the high from it."

The 34-year-old took his own life in an Alaska jail cell last weekend.

He was locked up, awaiting trial for the murder of coffee barista Samantha Koenig. While in custody, he told authorities he'd murdered seven other people. Keyes didn't reveal the identities of all the victims, leaving officials the daunting task of piecing together his chilling past.

Keyes also told detectives about his dual personality, which he claimed to live with for the past 14 years.

"There is no one who knows me or who has ever known me that knows anything about me, really," he says in the clip.

Others, he said, "will tell you something that doesn't line up with anything I tell you, because I'm two different people basically. The only person who knows about what I'm telling you, the kind of things I'm telling you, is me."

Surveillance footage released earlier in the week shows Keyes encounter with the 18-year-old Koenig before he allegedly abducted and murdered her.
