Yesterday an American Free Press staffer was manhandled by Fairfax County Police for crossing the street that leads up to the Westfield Marriot Hotel near Chantilly, Virginia, where the infamous Bilderberg meeting is now taking place.

Usually when journalists gather at international events, they’re pretty much free to report on what’s happening as long as they do not move outside the designated area and wear their press-cards visibly around their necks like a collar. But when writer Charlie Skelton in 2009, standing on a sidewalk across the street from the hotel where the Bilderberg meeting was taking place, took out his camera to make a picture he came to understand what separates Bilderberg meetings from all others:

“Over came the man with the machine gun. Over came the man with the special mirror-on-a-stick for car bombs. It was the first time in my life, and hopefully the last, that I’ve been intimidated by a mirror on a stick. They circled round me. One of them, the one in the photo with one hand up and the other on his pistol, kept prodding me in the shoulder, and shouting: “Give the camera! Just give the camera!”

“All around me”, Skelton continued: “”Delete! Delete photos!” followed by a lame tug of war for the camera with no great self-belief on either side, which I won. Camera back in pocket.”

After the incident, Charlie Skelton was taken to the local police department shortly after which he was released.

In 2006, Alex Jones was detained for no less than 5 hours by Canadian immigration on orders of the Bilderberg group in June of 2006. On June 8 of that year Paul Joseph Watson reported:

“Customs openly told Alex (Jones) as soon as they brought him into custody that the Bilderberg Group was aware of his arrival and that this was the reason for his detainment. All three members of the team were instantly detained despite going through different immigration desk.”

One of the officials was reported as saying:

“You Americans shit all over us Canadians think you can do anything you want to us.”

How about the harassment experienced by Jim Tucker, Daniel Estulin and others who attempted to report on the comings and goings of the Bilderbergers.

In 2010, for the first time since its founding in 1954, the steering-committee of Bilderberg officially lodged a complaint against a journalist.
Micha Kat. one of the few journalists in the Netherlands (if not the only one) to follow the Bilderbergers on their shadowy heels, noted that the charge made against him was “spray-painting slogans on the exterior of Bilderberg headquarters in the Dutch city of Leiden.”

Confronted with the charge, the journalist in question did the only thing one can do in such a circumstance: he lodged a complaint right back at them.

On January 5 2010, Kat reported at the department of police in the city of Leiden to sign a letter admitting he spray-painted several slogans onto the exterior of Bilderberg’s headquarters in September of the previous year. The day before, Kat had been practically driven off the road by a police-vehicle and taken in for questioning. Kat:

“After your webmaster (Kat) and his crew had managed to make some unique footage of Bilderberg-HQ and the people who live there- it was admitted that Zonnebloem 26 is a Bilderberg-residence and the lady who lives there, employed by Bilderberg- they were driven off the road by a police-vehicle with screaming sirens after which your webmaster was arrested and detained, according to the police on the grounds of the ID-law: he had forgotten his passport.”

After Kat had signed a statement acknowledging the fact he painted some anti-New World Order slogans on the facade of the Bilderberg-residence in September of the previous year, he was told that the Bilderberg Foundation had filed suit against him for “vandalizing” their property, making Micha Kat the first person to formally be on the receiving end of legal action taken directly by the secretive group.

It’s interesting to note that Etienne Davignon, the former chairman of the Bilderberg Group, took a short break from his perpetual silence by condemning the actions by Kat and others:

“The marring is not only a nuisance to the residents, the perpetrators also have the wrong house”.

Davignon referred to Bilderberg’s former honorary secretary, mrs. Maja Banck-Polderman, who- he says- has now retired.

“After the questioning”, Kat noted on his website, “your webmaster in his turn filed suit against the Bilderberg Foundation and its Dutch members- specifically (Prime minister) Balkenende and (queen) Beatrix- for among other things conspiring with foreign entities and undermining the Dutch state.”

After the counter-complaint by Kat, the matter passed like a rustle in the wind. So keen on preserving its secrecy, Bilderberg obviously didn’t follow through with the complaint for fear of exposing itself to the public eye.

This, I’m forced to report, is the sad state of affairs. Things are not looking better when we consider the mainstream media worldwide is practicing self-censorship like it’s going out of style. The reason that only a handful of journalists have been harassed and detained for reporting on Bilderberg, is that only a handful of journalists actually report on Bilderberg.
