URGENT - Police just forceably removed all our generators! Shame! #OWS

--First Oakland Mayor Jean Quan came under fire for Tuesday's violent police clash with protesters. Then she made a rather incredible about-face, expressing support for the Occupy movement and ordering a "minimal police presence" in the short term. And now Quan has tempered her support a bit. In a written statement (her scheduled speaking engagement at the occupation site was canceled), Quan wrote that she will "continue to order a minimal police presence" but:

We are asking you not to camp overnight. Frank Ogawa Plaza is open for free speech activities between 6 am and 10 pm.

So no free speech in Oakland between 10 and 6?

--This is rich: The NYPD is threatening to sue Occupy Wall Street if any police officers are injured in the line of duty. Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins told the New York Post

“In light of the growing violence attendant to the 'Occupy' movements across the country, particularly as evidenced by the recent events in Oakland, I am compelled to place these so-called 'occupiers' on notice that physical assaults on police officers will not be tolerated."

"I am deeply concerned that protesters will be emboldened by the recent rash of violent acts against police officers in other cities. New York’s police officers are working around the clock as the already overburdened economy in New York is being drained by 'occupiers' who intentionally and maliciously instigate needless and violent confrontations with the police."

Say what now?

--Today Egyptians are showing solidarity with Oakland and the greater Occupy movement by holding a march from Tahrir Square to the U.S. embassy.

--The brains over at Google found that: "Search interest in OWS is higher than the Tea Party. Both currently and in looking at the birth of each."

--A top cleric at St. Paul's Cathedral in London has chosen to resign, "with great regret and sadness," rather than force out the Occupy London Stock Exchange protesters who have been demonstrating in front of the church.

--In Nashville, 29 protesters were arrested when members of the highway patrol swept in at 3am to evict them from the city's Legislative Plaza. The occupiers released a statement saying, "We intend to resist this illegal action by the state in a peaceful and dignified manner."

--Scott Olsen, the veteran and Occupy Oakland protester whose skull was fractured by police on Tuesday, has captured the attention of mainstream media while the worldwide Occupy movement stands in solidarity with him.
