Speechless Ron Paul supporters everywhere are stunned to learn his son, Rand Paul, has openly thrown his supportbehind the Mitt Romney for President campaign.

As if hell has actually frozen over, what was once believed to be a virtual impossibility has actually occurred. Through Rand, against what almost every supporter stands for, Ron Paul's campaign officially betrayed their historically loyal following Thursday night by telling everyone they've given up and, even more surprisingly, given in to the dark side.

Not only did Rand give all the signals that the Paul campaign is unnecessarily raising the white flag, he did so on Fox News. The very channel arguably considered, largely responsible for the most damage inflicted to Paul's campaign than any other media outlet.

The irony in the air is so thick it can be cut with a knife.

Just as things really start to heat up, just as it became clearPaul had won enough states and amassed enough delegates to have, at least, a gigantic platform and possibly more at the RNC, a sudden and devastating turn of events has taken place that has left 10's of millions of once-hopeful Paul supporters around the country in total astonishment.

The problem is, the super-vast majority of Paul's supporters are supporters for a very good reason. Even worse, those reasons are always going to be synonymous with everything Romney will never be, and everyone knows that, especially Paul and his supporters.

Almost every Ron Paul supporter knows Romney representsa perfect contrast to Paul's Libertarian ideals, knows Romney is supported by the same general campaign contributors as Obama, knows Romney is the candidatemost resembling Obama politically, knows Romney has broken the record for the most flip-flopping in one campaign in recent memory, and knows Romney would never live up to the standards Paul supporters expect from a candidate. It would never happen.

Paul's supporters know the Pauls know this and that's what makes this situation so confusing.
Paul's supporters, unless they somehow become convinced that the campaign has an incredibly clever trick up its sleeve, are now forced to assume the campaign has officially sold out to the establishment, for reasons that currently boggle the mind.

Unless this is all a bad dream, Rand has effectively tarnished the Paul name for all time with one of the most devastating days for the liberty minded candidate, constituent and movement in a long time.

By bowing to the Wall Street establishment and its puppet candidates at this particular moment, full-knowing Paul's realistically remarkable chances of having an incredible platform at the convention, the Paul's have effectively sent the message that they are instead going to spite all the impossible amounts of work their constituents have done to make their chances a reality, only to throw them all under the bus in the end.

The vast majority of Ron Paul supporters are currently in a total state of shock, beside themselves with confusion and heartbroken discouragement at why the Paul's would throw away everything everyone has worked for all these years, during the most pivotal moment in the game.

This was the situation Ron Paul and many of his supporters had been asking for since 2007, some since 1988. A simple chance to be in the game in the fourth quarter. Giving the team a legitimate chance to shock the establishment and the RNC crowd on national television with an amazing show of the actual support for Paul the media has been hiding all along...only to see the Paul camp throw the ball away with the game on the line?

How the heck could this have happened? Even if Rand simply wants a chance at the Vice Presidency, if that is the case, that still means a total selling out to the the establishment for the vast majority of Paul's supporters, who will never be OK with having anything to do with negotiating with the enemy.

Ron Paul supporters have been immediately faced with the realization that either the Bilderberg's physical threats had to be taken seriously, Rand has decided to spite the very 'Tea Party' movement that helped the Paul family get to where they are in the first place for a chance at political prestige, or that Ron Paul has literally decided to duck the incredible opportunity to have a political platform at a RNC, for undisclosed personal reasons.

Could it be that Ron has realized just what he's gotten himself into, now that he's actually on the verge of becoming a voice, the likes of which hasn't been seen since the days of Thomas Jefferson? Or, has the Paul family sold their constituents out for a chance at gaining some political momentum in a system that will likely, eventually change them instead?

Only time will tell.
