The Truth Will Set You Free .....
COLLIN COUNTY - Collin County deputies were met with immediate gunfire as they tried to serve an arrest warrant off County Road 580 just north of Blue Ridge Thursday afternoon.
The deputies were not injured. The suspect and his mother were shot, but it's unclear by whom.
Two deputies were sent to the residence to serve a misdemeanor warrant for making a terroristic threat. The suspect produced a firearm and shots were exchanged, according to Collin County Sheriff's Office spokesman John Norton.
"When he came to the door, he produced a weapon and shots were exchanged at that time," Major Mike Anderson said.
Initial reports from police were that the suspect, in his 50's, was hit in the chest and the thigh. According to police, the suspect then walked inside the residence and shot himself in the head. The suspect is still alive.
His mother, believed to be in her 70's, was shot, too. Investigators say it is too early to know who fired the shot that hit her. She was alert when she left the scene.
Two air ambulances transported the suspect and his mother to Medical Center of Plano. The suspect is in critical condition.
Investigators could be seen laying out several guns on the property. Police will not elaborate on the original charge of making a terroristic threat.
An investigation involving the Texas Rangers is now underway.
