Texas leads petition to secede from US; all 50 states filed; now what?

Over the last week, all 50 states have filed apetition to secede with the White House in an historic protest about the state of the US. As of early Wednesday morning, all 50 states in the United States have asked for their state to withdraw from the union of the United States and create their own new government. Over the weekend, the petition to secede movement started as mostly conservative states protested the re-election of President Obama, but even the most democratic states have joined in the secede.

Initially, these state filed petitions to secede on the White House website: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

Texas was the first state to reach the threshold of votes Monday evening and then Louisiana followed shortly behind. Monday night, California and Wyoming joined the list with all other states following on Tuesday and early Wednesday morning. Hawaii and Massachusetts joined at the end.

Many of the petitions include this Declaration of Independence statement:

Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government.

The petitions were filed through the “We the People” White House website and it promises:

If a petition meets the signature threshold (25,000 signatures in 30 days), it will be reviewed by the Administration and we will issue a response.

Each state has "peacefully" asked to be removed from the United States of America so that they can create their own government. Many believe that last week’s elections are to blame for rise in signatures on the petitions.

As of Wednesday morning, the following states have already met the 25,000 threshold votes needed: Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Texas (with almost 100,000 signatures), and Louisiana.

Many Americans want a new government, and are not happy with the way that this country has been run…but what does that mean exactly? Each state will give up all federal funding and will have to essentially run itself. What will happen if all 50 states reach the 25,000 signatures needed to get the attention of the federal government? Texas and those states who have reached the threshold of signatures will receive an official response soon to their petition to secede.
