Government tries to establish its control on the Internet
May 3, 2012 The file-storage site Megaupload has been at the center of an ongoing battle as the US government tries to slowly take over the Internet. Federal authorities seized the assets of MegaUpload founder Kim Dotcom assets this year after his New Zealand compound was raided. Although the government bypassed the criminal courts, the US government alleges that MegaUpload facilitated copyright infringement. Now with CISPA in the works, the government may soon be going after other sites. Eric Goldman, associate law professor at Santa Clara University, gives us his take on Internet freedoms.
