Apr 25, 2012 On Tuesday, a bovine in the state of California tested positive for mad cow disease. The incident has caused health officials to address the issue and assure Americans that humans are not at risk. If a person was to consume meat that is infected with the disease, however, the victim would rapidly see a failure in mental health and movement ability. Despite the dangers that could develop from the disease, two states have recently passed legislation that outlaws undercover investigation at factory farms. These "ag gag" laws could keep journalists from exposing the conditions that cause mad cow, yet now a third state is considering passing similar legislation.
