Our beautiful tramway system destroyed overnight when the Paddington depot mysteriously burnt down, this was a deliberate act of sabotage, how could steel trams burn, arson YES?
The Liberal government and the Labor Council wanted to introduce diesel buses and no amount of protest could stop them tearing-up all the tram tracks and pull-down the overhead power cables to give us an unreliable bus timetable, soon after the oil embargo came and diesel fuel prices soared and the western world went into recession.
The people of Brisbane had no say in the matter even though 99% were against the buses.
